Submarine Pet & Mascot Project

Submarine Research Center conducts research that is often targeted at the social and psychological aspects of submarine crews. Of self-apparent importance is the nature of humor in maintaining the morale of a submariner. In 2004 the Center collected the best of gags, pranks and jokes played by submariners. It published a small volume that has proven to be very popular with the public as well as veteran submariners. Somehow, everyone enjoys a good chuckle and the Center printed the best twenty-five tales of skullduggery. Many were stories that involved animals in submarines, animals other than submariners that is.

SRC is amazed at the number of humorous events involving pets and mascots in submarines. If you were aboard a submarine that had a pet or mascot or an animal of any kind on board we would appreciate hearing about it. Just email your story to us or call us and describe the pet together with any interesting events that were connected to the animal.

We'll collect the stories and give contributors full credit.
